About the Universidad Odontológica Dominicana (UOD)

Founded on October 30, 1983, the Universidad Odontológica Dominicana (UOD) is the only university in the world dedicated exclusively to dentistry and the dental sciences.

For more than four decades, UOD has concentrated its academic mission solely on oral health, offering specialized programs for dentists, dental hygienists, dental assistants, and dental laboratory technicians. Its single-discipline focus, modern clinical infrastructure, and longstanding commitment to academic excellence make it a uniquely important institution in global dental education.

UOD also plays a significant role in advancing dental research. The university maintains an active scientific culture, including the publication of the Revista Científica UOD (ISSN 2409-5400), an open-access research journal that supports the dissemination of evidence-based knowledge across Latin America and beyond. This combination of focused academic training, clinical capacity, and ongoing research activity positions UOD as a distinctive and respected leader in the dental field.

The collaboration between IDIT — International Dental Implantology Training and UOD extends well beyond the delivery of hands-on implant courses. Together, both institutions are committed to developing joint research initiatives, scientific publications, academic lectures, clinical practicum opportunities, and ongoing educational support for UOD students.

This partnership strengthens UOD’s academic mission while providing IDIT participants with the institutional credibility, structure, and scientific environment of a fully recognized dental university.
